Pilot terms

Last updated October 5, 2026. Questions: support@lighthousent.org.

Beacon is offered to a small group of nonprofits as a pilot by Lighthouse Nonprofit Technologies, a 501(c)(3). These terms say what you can expect from us and what we ask of you during the pilot.

Who can use Beacon

  • Organizations that the IRS recognizes as 501(c)(3) public charities or private foundations, verified by EIN. Lighthouse reviews each organization before its agent starts.
  • People who are authorized to act for that organization. The person who signs up confirms this, and Beacon records the confirmation.
  • One Beacon account per organization. Colleagues join it by invitation or by request; they do not create a second one.

What Beacon does, and does not do

  • Your agent researches funders, scores how well opportunities fit, helps shape project ideas, and writes drafts for a person to review. It recommends; your team decides every move.
  • Beacon never submits an application, contacts a funder, registers your organization anywhere, or spends money. Your team submits on the funder's own portal.
  • Beacon is an AI system. It can be wrong. Every number, deadline and eligibility rule should be checked against the source before you rely on it; Beacon shows its sources and marks what it could not verify.
  • Nothing in Beacon is legal, tax or accounting advice, and no result promises a grant.

The pilot

  • There is no fee during the pilot. Lighthouse sets each organization's plan by hand and will tell you before any billing begins; nothing changes without your agreement.
  • Pilot organizations get a monthly allowance of agent runs set by their plan. When it is used up the agent pauses until the next month.
  • Beacon is provided as it is, while it is being built. Features will change, and the service may be interrupted. Lighthouse is a nonprofit and is not liable for lost grants, missed deadlines or other losses arising from the use of Beacon during the pilot.
  • Either side can end the pilot at any time. Write to us and we close your organization's account and delete its data as the privacy notice describes.

What we ask of you

  • Upload organizational documents only. No client or beneficiary records.
  • Keep your sign-in link to yourself. Invite colleagues through Beacon rather than sharing an account.
  • Do not use Beacon to produce deceptive applications: invented statistics, another organization's text, or claims of eligibility your organization does not meet.
  • Tell us when something looks wrong. The "This looks wrong" buttons and the support address exist for that.

Your content

Your documents, profile, conversations, ideas and drafts remain yours. You give Lighthouse the permission needed to store and process them to run Beacon for your organization, as the privacy notice describes, and nothing more.

Changes

These terms will change as the pilot does. Material changes are announced to the owners of each organization by email before they take effect, and the date above changes when they do.
